Ayrton Senna’s Honda NSX (pictured) is expected to fetch £75-85k
Ayrton Senna was arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time, and his death 20 years ago at Imola sent shock waves through the sport and deprived F1 fans of more years of Senna’s driving prowess. But driving F1 cars wasn’t the only thing Senna did; just like today’s F1 drivers he was also involved in road car development, and during his time with McLaren he was a part of Honda’s (engine suppliers at the time for McLaren) development of the original NSX. So any Honda NSX with a clear link to Senna can reasonably expect to be a desirable car for collectors and F1 fans to acquire, and the Honda NSX up for grabs at Silverstone Auctions’ sale next month has a very clear Senna link.
Volvo’s City safe has reduced insurance premiums for Volvo owners
Volvo are on a mission to ensure that no one dies or is seriously injured in a Volvo by 2020, and that means more and more clever technology to protect Volvo drivers from the dangers of driving. One of those technologies is Volvo’s City Safe, a low speed (up to 31mph) collision avoidance system, that uses a laser at the top of the windscreen to monitor traffic and will automatically brake the car if its senses no reaction from the driver when a collision is imminent. So good is City Safe that Thatcham – the people who set insurance groups for cars – has decided Volvos fitted with City Safe should be rated in a lower group.
The Infiniti Emerg-E will debut at Geneva 2012
The Infiniti Emerg-E – an electric sports car with a range extender engine – will debut as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Infiniti has been teasing the new range extender concept sport car they are taking to Geneva for the last month or so, with the usual teaser photos and dearth of real detail. But now we know a bit more, but at least we now know what it’s called – the Infiniti Emerg-E.
